Between the months of September and October, students will be engaging in a variety of literacy activities
to promote a global literacy initiative.
Literacy Month September 17-October 17
Literacy Month is a global initiative to encourage young readers to go beyond classroom reading, and make connections between school and real world learning. Students are challenged to explore new books, topics, or even possible new interest that make spark a lifelong curiosity.
What you can do at home
Read! The best way to become a more fluent reader is to practice reading! Encourage your child to read books for fun not only for school. Plan family trips to the local library to discover new books or classic favorites. Take some time to sit and read with your child or have them read to you. This reading time together goes beyond bonding but also creating memorable childhood experiences.
